5 tbs oil
2 lb round or chuck, cubed
1 1/2 c chopped onion
2 cloves minced garlic
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp Accent
2 tbs curry powder
2 tbs beef bouillon, granulated
2 c hot water
1 c tomato sauce (8 oz)
1 tbs lemon juice
Directions:
Directions:
1. Heat 3 tbs oil in large skillet. Add beef and brown all sides; remove; set aside.
2. To skillet, add 2 tbs oil, onion, garlic; cook until soft and slightly brown.
3. Mix together spices in bowl (salt, pepper, curry, Accent, bouillon).
4. Add to onion mixture; add beef; stir in water.
5. Simmer until beef is tender.
6. Add tomato sauce and lemon juice.

Serve with condiments in small bowls such as raisins, grated coconut, chutney that each diner can add as they like.

This recipe came from my cousin Gertrude Mayer when we visited her in Hawaii in the 1960s. Many have asked for this recipe, and it gets high marks.

Serve over rice.

Excellent when served with Namasu cucumber salad.
