2 c raisins
1 c water
1 tsp soda
2 c sugar, white or brown
1 c butter
1 tsp vanilla
3 eggs
4 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp cloves
1 c walnuts, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Add water to washed raisins, boil briskly for 5 minutes. Cool, and stir in soda. Cream butter and sugar, add beaten eggs and cooled raisins with there juice. Add flour with other dry ingredients . Drop by spoonful on greased cookie sheet or on parchment paper. Bake at 400F for 10 to 12 minutes, or until brown.

Auntie Lori gave the tip to make sure raisins are completely cool before adding.
