One sleeve of saltines (40 crackers)
1 cup butter (2 sticks --do not use margarine)
1 cup + 2 Tbsp firmly packed light brown sugar
16 oz bag of chocolate chips
1/2 to 3/4 cup chopped pecans or chopped,toasted almonds

Preheat oven to 350º
Prepare a cookie sheet that has sides by lining it with foil. Spray with non-stick cooking spray.
Line the crackers end to end on sheet, breaking crackers to fit the end if necessary.

In a saucepan melt butter on low heat, then add brown sugar and turn the heat to medium.
Continue stirring until boiling-- simmerl for 3 minutes (set your timer).
Pour over saltines, spreading evenly and working quickly.
Put cookie sheet into oven. Bake for 5 minutes. Remove.
Pour the chocolate chips over top. Place a sheet of foil over and let melt for 3 minutes.(Timer again).
Spread the melted chocolate evenly over base. Sprinkle nuts on top.
Replace the foil and refrigerate until set.
Can be frozen. Break into pieces and store in air-tight container.
