2 c flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
3 tbsp. shortening
1 c buttermilk or sour milk

Directions:
Preheat oven to 450F. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt into a large mixing bowl. With pastry blender , cut shortening into dry ingredients until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually stir in buttermilk. On lightly floured surface , knead dough for 2-4 minutes. Roll dough until approximately 1/2'' thick. Using round cutter, cut into biscuits. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until lightly browned.
