MEASURE INTO BOWL:
2 cups sifted cake flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
⅔ cup shortening
teaspoon cloves
teaspoon nutmeg
teaspoon allspice
⅓ cup molasses
⅔ cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Beat by hand or mixer (medium speed) for 2 minutes. Stir in 2 teaspoons double-acting baking powder and teaspoon soda. Add 3 eggs and cup milk. Mix thoroughly by hand or mixer for 2 minutes. Pour into two deep
9-inch layer pans (1 inch deep).
Bake in moderate 375 degree oven for 35 minutes.
