1 cup raisins
1 cup water
3/4 cup shortening
1-1/2 cup sugar (half brown, half white)
2 eggs
3 cups flour
2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup nuts
2 cups rolled oats uncooked

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º

Simmer raisins in water over low heat until raisins are tender. Drain raisin liquid into measuring cup and add enough water to make 1/4 cup liquid.

Cream shortening, sugar, eggs, vanilla. Stir in raisin liquid. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon. Add to shortening mixture. Add oats, raisins and nuts.

Drop by spoonfuls on greased baking sheets.

Bake 8-10 minutes. Do not over bake. Cook on racks. Store in airtight container.
