1/2 cup shortening
2 squares or 2 oz unsweetened cocoa
2 eggs unbeaten
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup all purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
1 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Melt shortening and chocolate together over low heat. Cool slightly.

Place cooled chocolate mixture, eggs, sugar and vanilla in bowl. Beat at medium speed until blended - 1 minute.

Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add nuts. Beat at low speed until all flour is gone, scraping sides and bottom.

Pour into greased 8 x8 x2 pan. Bake at 350º 20 to 30 minutes. Cool in pan.
