1 lb ground beef
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tbsp chopped onion
3 tbsp parsley
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp red pepper
1 tsp basil
1 tsp oregano
1 cup red wine (Lambrusco works great!)
1/4 cup brown sugar
12 oz can tomato paste
1 qt tomato juice

Brown ground beef and spoon off fat if any. Add remaining ingredients except tomato paste and juice. Cook over medium heat until all the spices are hydrated and the wine has evaporated. Add tomato paste and tomato juice. Bring to a boil, then turn heat to low. Cover and simmer for at least one hour.
