2-1/2 cups sifted flour
2-1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
1-1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp cloves
1/2 cup shortening
1-1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1-1/2 cups (3-4) mashed bananas

FROSTING:

1/4 cup butter
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 cup mashed banana
1/2 tsp lemon juice

Directions:
Directions:
Mix and sift flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda and spices. Cream shortening and sugar, beat in eggs one at a time. Add vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with mashed bananas, beating smoothly after each addition.

Grease and flour 2 9-inch square pans. Bake in preheated 375 for 25 minutes.

FROSTING:

Cream butter with salt. Combine banana with lemon juice. Add alternately to butter with powdered sugar. Beat until fluffy.
