3 squares Baker's Unsweetened Chocolate
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
1-1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 cup butter or margarine
1-1/2 cups milk
3 eggs

EASY CHOCOLATE FROSTING

4 squares Baker's Unsweetened Chocolate
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 lb (about 4 cups) confectioners sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup (about) milk

Directions:
Directions:
Melt chocolate in saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly. (Or heat chocolate at high power in microwave in nonmetal dish until almost melted -- 1-2 minutes, stirring once, then stir until smooth.) Mix flour with sugar, baking powder, salt and soda.

Stir butter just to soften. Add flour mixture, milk, eggs and melted chocolate. Blend; then beat at medium speed of electric mixer for 3 minutes; scraping bowl frequently.

Pour into two greased and floured 9-inch layer pans. Bake at 350º for 40 minutes or until cake tester insered into centers comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 minutes. Remove from pans and finish cooling on racks. Frost with Easy Chocolate Frosting.

FROSTING:

Melt chocolate in saucepan over very low heat, stirring constantly. (Or heat chocolate in nonmetal bowl in microwave at high power for 1 minute and 40 seconds, stirring once, then stir until completely melted.) Stir butter to soften. Beat in half of the sugar alternating with milk, beating until smooth and of right consistency to spread. Makes 2-1/2 cups.
