1 egg
6 oz. chopped dates
1 tsp baking soda
1 tbsp. butter
1 1/3 cup flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup boiling water
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.

In a large bowl pour water over dates, baking soda and butter. Let stand 10-15 minutes. Gradually add flour, mix well. Add egg, sugar vanilla and nuts. Pour into prepared loaf pan.

Bake for 50 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean
