1 cup oil
2 ½ teaspoons vanilla
3 teaspoons baking powder
4 large apples (golden delish)
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 cups sugar
1 orange
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons sugar for apples

Directions:
Directions:
Peel and slice apples, mix in bowl with sugar and cinnamon. Grease and flour spring form pan or angle food cake pan.
Preheat oven to 350º.
Beat eggs and add sugar, whip and add oil, juice from orange and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, sift flour, baking powder, salt, add to first mixture gradually. Pour 1/3 mixture into pan, ½ of apples, add another 1/3 of mixture, rest of apples, then remainder of mixture.
Bake for 1 ½ hours. Check after 1hr 20 mins. if crust has formed and cake seems firm, it is done. Let cake cool completely about 2-3 hours before removing from pan, sprinkle lightly with powdered sugar.

This recipe was regularly made by Ed's grandmother. I received copy of cake recipe written on the back of an envelope, in her handwriting. Nana lived to be 100 years old.
