2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg
½ cup nuts (walnuts or pecans)
½ cup softened butter
2 eggs
4 cups chopped apples (granny smith)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º.

Mix the dry ingredients together well, then add the butter and eggs. The batter will be very stiff until you add the apples which will supply the moisture.

Bake in a greased 9 x 13 inch pan for one hour. Can be served warmed or cold and with or without a dollop of coolwhip.
