2 cups sifted flour
¾ cup milk or buttermilk
½ cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
3 cups shortening (may use 3 stick butter/ margarine, melted)
2½ teaspoon Baking Powder
1 teaspoon salt

TOPPING:
¼ cup melted butter
½ teaspoon garlic powder

Directions:
Directions:
1. Adjust oven rack to middle position. Pre-heat oven to 450º F.
2. In a mixing bowl, sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
3. Cut in shortening, until fine.
4. Add cheese to mixture.
5. Stir in milk to make soft dough; knead lightly.
6. Roll out to ½-inch thickness, cut with biscuit cutter.
7. Place on greased baking sheet and bake 10-12 minutes.
8. Remove from oven and cool on wire rack. Meanwhile - make topping;
8. Combine 1/4 cup butter and ½ teaspoon garlic powder; Brush on warm biscuits before removing
them from the baking sheet. Spread generously on each biscuit until used up.
