1 egg, beaten
3/4 c. soft bread crumbs (1 slice bread)
3/4 tsp. salt
1 lb. ground beef
1 T. all-purpose flour
1-1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. dried thyme, crushed
1 medium green pepper, cut in strips
2 T. milk
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 c. onion, chopped
1 c. beef broth
Hot cooked rice

In a bowl, combine egg, milk, bread crumbs, salt, nutmeg and ground beef; mix well.
Shape mixture into 4 patties.
In a 10" skillet, cook patties over medium heat almost to desired doneness, about 3-4 minutes per side; remove from skillet.
Cook onion in skillet drippings until tender but not brown; drain off excess fat from skillet.
Add to skillet, flour and beef broth; blending well.
Stir in Worcestershire and thyme; cook stirring often until mixture is thickened and bubbly.
Return burgers to skillet; add green pepper strips; simmer covered until burgers are heated through, 2-3 minutes.
While burgers are completing cooking prepare rice according to package directions.
Serve over rice.
