"A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. "Much obliged," said he, pushing the plate aside; "I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills."--Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 ½ lbs ground beef
1 small onion
2 cloves garlic (or powder)
14 ½ oz. can of diced tomatoes
1 can beef broth
1 can tomato soup
2 cans water
1 can Rotel tomatoes
½ tsp cumin
3 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp salt
¾ cup picante sauce
Tortilla chips
Shredded cheddar cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Brown ground beef and onion together. Dump everything into a crock pot and mix. Cook at least 30 minutes. The longer it cooks the better it gets. We generally put it on for about 6 to 8 hours and anyone can eat in between that time according their schedules.

To serve, put some crushed up tortilla chips in the bowl and pour on the soup. Top with shredded cheese and sour cream if desired. Serve with lettuce and tomatoes on the side or just chips and salsa, if desired.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
We got this recipe from one of Nick’s classroom projects. Everyone in class had to bring a different ingredient and then the teacher put it all in the crock-pot and the class had it for lunch. When Nick told us how good it was we got out his assignment book and copied the recipe. Really a good flavor.
