1/2 cup ground beef,
1 cup dried lentils (red or brown)
2 cups water
1 28 oz can tomatoes
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped cabbage
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 Tbsp. beef soup base

Directions:

In large, heavy saucepan, brown ground beef. Pour off excess fat. Stir in rinsed and drained lentils and remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered until lentils are tender (approximately 1 1/2 hours)
