Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 pound butter
⅓ cup hot water
2 cups sugar
1¾ pounds chocolate, grated
2 pounds nuts, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Prepare pans - recipe stipulates one 9X13-inch pan plus one 9X9-inch pan, but a jelly roll pan could also work.

Layer 1: Pour chopped nuts on bottom of pan, covering pan solidly. Place grated chocolate over nuts, covering nuts well.

Layer 2: At a fairly low heat in a medium saucepan, cook butter, sugar and water until 290º - stop stirring, after it starts to boil. Remove from heat and pour over chopped nuts and grated chocolate. DO NOT SCRAPE THE PAN!

Layer 3: Place remaining grated chocolate over hot mixture, then top with remaining chopped nuts, covering well. Slightly press into candy layer. Cool.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Susy: Grandpa Cox loved Ella Newton's candy recipes! About this recipe, Ella says "be sure and have chocolate grated and nuts chopped because once the hot mixture is ready; you need to work rather fast, before it gets too hard!"
