Cake:
3 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1-1/2 c. granulated sugar
2-1/2 tsp. baking powder
1-1/2 tsp. baking soda
1-1/2 c. mayonnaise
1-1/2 c. water
1-1/2 tsp. vanilla

Frosting:
1 egg
1/3 c. plus 1 T. butter, softened
5 T. plus 1 tsp. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1-1/2 c. - 2 c. powdered sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350. Use 2 - 9" round cake pans that have been lined on the bottom with waxed paper.

Cake:
In a large bowl, stir together all dry ingredients: flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder and baking soda.
Add mayonnaise to dry mixture; stirring until well mixed.
Gradually stir in water and vanilla; stirring until batter is smooth.
Pour batter into 2 - 9" round cake pans that have been lined on the bottom with waxed paper.
Bake in 350 oven for 30 minutes or until cake tests done; cool completely before frosting.

Frosting:
In mixing bowl, beat egg; add remaining ingredients; beat well.
Frost cooled cake. Serve
