1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen strawberries
1 T. butter
¾ tsp. freshly ground black pepper
4 firm pears

Directions:

Thaw strawberries.

Heat oven to 350º. Butter a gratin dish. Drain strawberries, reserving the juice. Combine the strawberry juice and 1 T. butter in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil and cook until reduced to about a ¼ cup. Add pepper.

Peel, core, and quarter the four pears. Put pears and strawberries in the gratin dish and pour in the syrup.

Cover with aluminum foil and bake until the pears are tender, about 45 minutes.

Remove the foil and cook until bubbling, about 15 minutes more.
