Christmas Gum Drop Cake Recipe

2 lbs. gumdrop candy (remove any black ones) OR orange slice candy
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1 tsp ground clove
1 tsp cinnamon
3 eggs
1 cup apple sauce
2 cups raisins
1 cup nuts
4 cups self rising flour
1 cup water

Preheat oven to 325
Cream butter and sugar.
Add 2 cups flour, clove, cinnamon and eggs.
Sift in the other 2 cups flour over the fruit and gumdrops, then add to creamed mixture.
Pour into 2 round cake pans or one 9x13 pan
Bake for 2 rounds = 1 hour OR 9x13 = 2 hours
