12 apples, cored (best: Macintosh, Braeburn, Jonagold, Jonathan, Winesap)
1 c. water
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Pour water into bottom of large pot. Peel and slice apples.

Cook, uncovered, over medium heat for 20-30 minutes or until apples are soft enough to mash with a fork. Add more water to avoid scorching apples if necessary. Sprinkle with cinnamon and stir gently.

Transfer apples to a large bowl. Break up any large pieces with a fork. Cool before serving.
