Ingredients: 3 c. Dry navy beans 1 large onion 1/3 c. Molasses 1/4 c. Pure maple syrup 4 tbsp. brown sugar 1/2 c. Tomato based sauce (tomato sauce/ BBQ sauce/ tomato juice/ even ketchup!) 1 c. / 1 1/2c. Vegetable broth 2 tbsp. corn starch 1 piece side bacon (optional) 1 can of rinsed black beans (optional) 1/2 can of diced tomatoes (optional)

Directions:1- soak dry beans in 6-7 c. water overnight in a large pot 2- next morning....bring beans to a boil and cook on medium to low heat until they soften and begin to split 3- drain beans and place in a slow-cooker or an earthen baking dish with a cover 4- rinse bean pot and mix: vegetable broth, syrup, molasses and tomato sauce 5- mix corn starch and dry mustard with br. sugar and then mix into liquid mixture 6- pour liquid mixture over beans 7- add a whole onion and / or a piece of side bacon 8- cover and slow cook in a slow-cooker for 5-6 hours or in an oven for 3-4 hours 9.- add in black beans and / or tomatoes an hour or 2 before serving This is a recipe you can experiment with.....
