Ingredients:

Filling
2 c dates, finely chopped
1/2 c brown sugar
1 c water
1 tbsp flour
1 1/2 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp vanilla
Base and topping
2 c flour
2 tsp baking powder
4 c rolled oats
2 c brown sugar
1 1/2 c melted butter

Directions:

Filling
cook dates, sugar, lemon juice, water and flour until thick then add vanilla
Bottom and topping
Mix together all ingredients,
Place 1/2 on the bottom of a well greased 8X11 1/2" rectangle baking pan. Cover with filling. Top with the rest of the flour mixture. Pat down gently. Bake for about 20 minutes at 365

Cut into squares when cool.
