2 cups raisins
1 c water
1 c shortening
1 3/4 c sugar
3 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
4 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp allspice
1/2 tsp cloves
1 c chopped nuts

Directions:
Boil raisins and water 5 minutes. Leave water for liquid. Cream shortening and sugar well. Add whole raisins and eggs beat thoroughly. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with raisin liquid. Fold in raisins. Drop on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400º for 12 - 15 minutes
