Nut sticks:
2 c. all-purpose flour (DO NOT USE Self-Rising flour)
1 T. sugar
3/4 c. butter or margarine, soft
1/4 c. milk
1 egg, beaten

Filling:
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter or margarine, soft
1/4 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. almond extract

Glaze:
1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 T. water

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Use ungreased baking sheets.

Nut sticks:
Mix flour and 1 T. sugar in a bowl.
Cut in 3/4 c. butter or margarine, until particles are the size of small peas.
Stir in 1/4 c. milk and 1 beaten egg until dough forms a ball and clings tot he side of the bowl.
Divide dough in half.
On a lightly floured board, roll half of dough into a 12"x4" rectangle; place on an ungreased baking sheet.
Repeat with remaining dough.

Filling:
In a bowl, mix 1/2 c. sugar, 1/4 c. butter or margarine, nuts and almond extract.
Spread half of the sugar mixture lengthwise down the center of each rectangle.
Bring long edges of dough together; seal securely.

Bake in 350º oven for 30 minutes.
Cool slightly.

Glaze:
In a bowl, mix 1/2 c. powdered sugar and 1 T. water until smooth.

Drizzle glaze over cooled nut sticks.
Cut crosswise into 1" sticks.
