2 cups beef broth
1 bay leaf
salt to taste
1 cup lentils, split peas or black-eyed peas
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons apple cider
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
3 tablespoons honey

Directions:
Directions:
Bring lentils or peas, bay leaf, and salt to boil in broth. Simmer 30 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Cook till lentils are tender, approximately 5 minutes.
