2 c flour
4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
2 tsp sugar
1/2 c shortening
2/3 c milk

Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients. Cut in shortening until it's like coarse crumbs. Make a well; add milk, stir quickly with a fork just until dough follows fork around bowl. Turn onto lightly floured surface. Knead gently 10-12 times. Roll or pat dough 1/2" thick. Dip 2 1/2" cutter in flour, cut dough, straight down. Bake on ungreased baking sheet at 450º 10 - 12 minutes
