Strawberry Refrigerator Dessert Recipe

3/4c. vanilla wafer crumbs, divided.
1/2c. butter or margarine
1c. powdered sugar
1 egg
1/2tsp. vanilla extract
1/4c. chopped nuts
2 (10oz.) packages frozen strawberries, thawed and drained
1/2p. whipping cream, whipped

Line an 8' square pan with half of the wafer crumbs.
Mix butter and sugar.
Blend in the egg, vanilla and nuts.
Spoon mixture over crumbs in the pan.
Top with strawberries, spreading evenly.
Spread whipped cream over strawberries and sprinkle with remaining crumbs.
Refrigerate 24 -48hrs. before serving.
