Brown Sugar Hazelnut Round Cookies Recipe

C shortning
C butter or oleo
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
tsp baking soda
2 C flour
1 C brown sugar
tsp salt
C toasted ground hazelnuts or pecans
⅓ C toasted finely chopped nuts (optional)

⅓ recipe of confectioners sugar icing with maple syrup (or flavor), orange juice or vanilla (Optional)

Beat shortning and oleo/butter for 30 seconds. Add 1 C flour, brown sugar, egg, vanilla, baking soda and salt.

Beat well and add rest of flour and C chopped nuts.

Shape dough into 2 X 10 inch rools on waxed paper (can roll in chopped nuts)

Wrap and chill 4-48 hours.

Slice into inch slices and place on cookie sheet 1 inch apart.

Bake at 375 for 10 minutes.

Dip in melted chocolate (1/2 way) or drizzle melted chocolate over cookie.

Sprinkle with nuts or use icing to decorate.
