2 C flour
1 T cinnamon
1 tsp clove
1 tsp nutmeg
⅛ tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda

lemon peeled
C sugar
C honey
C candied lemon peel
C candied orange peel
1 C slivered almonds
2 T orange juice

C sugar
C water

Sift dry indredients and reserve.

Heat C sugar and C honey in large saucepan.

To that add rind of grated lemon, lemon and orange peels and slivered almonds.

Remove from heat. Add 2 T orange juice and dry ingredients.

Mix well. Knead and roll inches thick and put on waxed, greased paper.

Bake at 325 for 25 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove from oven, peel paper immediately.

Turn right side up and glaze while hot with:
C sugar with C water> Cook until it forms a thread.

It is easier to cut this while still warm. Store in a tightly lidded container. Best eaten after they have aged about a week.
