5-6 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. vanilla (or more, to taste)

Directions:
Cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs and beat well. Add hot milk. Mix together dry ingredients and add to flour mixture. Slowly add flour mixture to blended ingredients. Mix well. Refrigerate for at least a half hour.

Roll out dough, cut out cookies and place on cookie sheet. Use parchment paper for best results. Bake at 350 degrees 8-10 mites, depending on thickness. Sprinkle with sugar or cool and frost.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
My Grandma Maude's recipe. She always made them as big, round cutout cookies, sprinkled with sugar. A family favorite!
