1-9 inch deep dish pie crust
7 cups tart cooking apples, peeled and sliced thin
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
3/4 cup flour
6 tablespoons packed brown sugar
6 tablespoons butter, softened
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup whipping cream

Prepare pie crust & set aside.

In large bowl, combine apples, sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, salt & nutmeg. Spoon mixture into pie shell.


Combine 3/4 cup flour & brown sugar. Cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over apples. Bake at 400º 55 to 60 minutes or until filling is bubbly and top is golden.

Stir cinnamon into cream. With wooden pick or skewer, poke tiny holes in crumb top as soon as pie is removed from oven. Slowly pour cream over top so that it's absorbed. Cool on wire rack.

When I was in high school, I clipped this recipe from The Sunday Magazine that used to be part of The Columbus Dispatch. An obvious keeper! I've made it several times and it always gets lots of compliments!
