1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp almond extract
2 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup chopped maraschino cherries
12 cup red & green M & M's
1 cup confectioners sugar
5 tsp cherry juice

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 300º

In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the egg and almond extract.

Combine flour and salt, stir into the creamed mixture until well blended.
Mix in 1/2 cup of the cherries and.
Press dough into an ungreased 9 x 13 baking dish.
Sprinkle with remaining cherries and M & M's.

Bake for 30-35 minutes or until edges are lightly browned
Cool.

Make icing by mixing the confectioners sugar and maraschino cherry juice.
Drizzle icing over top.

When I made this I increased the amount of cherries and candy. Love making this one at Christmas time due to the colors.
