½ c butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. chopped dates
1 eggs, well beaten
1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. Rice Krispies

Toppings:
Coconut
Powdered sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Place Rice Krispies in a large glass or metal bowl and set aside.
Place powder sugar and/or coconut into separate Ziploc bags or bowls for rolling balls & set aside
Melt butter in a large heavy skillet. Add sugar, dates and eggs into skillet. Cook over medium heat while mashing and stirring constantly for 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and nuts. While still warm shape into small 2 bite balls. Roll balls in coconut and place on waxed paper.

This was my Moms 1st cousins recipe who came every year to our candy making sessions. This was always her contribution to the candy making. We all brought different candy recipes to make and then we would share each others goodies. I promise you will like this recipe if you give it a try. Just don't tell anyone there's dates in it and they will love them.
