1 stick butter
1 c. sugar
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 egg (lightly beaten)
1/2 vanilla flavoring
1 large egg white
1 c. sifted confectioners' sugar

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl cream butter and sugar together. Sift together the dry ingredients; add to the butter mixture and beat well. Add the egg and vanilla and beat again until well mixed. Shape dough into 2 flattened rounds, wrap and chill at least 1 hour. Preheat oven to 325º. Roll out dough onto a floured surface until 1/8" thick. Cut dough into shapes and set 1"-2" apart on thick cookie sheets. Bake 10 minutes. Bake until baked, but not brown. Cool on rack. Mix the confectioners’ sugar and egg white. Divide into different bowls and color. Spread on cooled cookies.
