QUICK FUDGE FROSTING

1 2/3 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1 1/2 c. sugar
2/3 c. cocoa
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 tsp. soda
2 eggs
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Have ingredients at room temperature. Preheat oven to 350º. Grease and flour baking pans (13x9 or two 8 or 9 or 24 cupcakes). Sift together dry ingredients in large mixing bowl. Add remaining ingredients. Blend 1/2 minute on low speed, scraping bowl constantly. Beat 3 minutes on high speed, scraping bowl occasionally. Pour into pan(s). Bake 13 x 9 for 35 to 40 minutes, layer pans 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool. Frost with Quick Fudge Frosting.

1 c. granulated sugar
2 Tbs. light corn syrup
1/4 c. cocoa
Dash of salt
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. milk
1-1 1/2 c. powder sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix granulated sugar and cocoa in a saucepan. Stir in butter, milk, corn syrup and salt; heat until boiling, stir frequently. Boil vigorously for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, and then cool. Beat in powder sugar and vanilla.
