2 c self-rising flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 c sugar
1/2 c shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c applesauce
1/2 c chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
In a medium bowl sift together flour, powder, soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. In a large bowl, cream sugar and shortening. Blend in eggs and vanilla well. Gradually add sifted dry ingredients. Mix well. Stir in applesauce and pecans. Pour into well greased 9x5 pan. Bake at 350° for 55-60 minutes or until center is firm. Cool before slicing.
