2 1/2 c. sugar
1 lb. butter (4 sticks)
1 tsp. salt
6 1/2 Tbs. water
2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. slivered almonds

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter in large heavy pan. Add all of the other ingredients including almonds. Boil fast at high heat stirring constantly and cook to 300 degrees on candy thermometer. Stir from stove to pan, pour on 2 large well buttered cookie sheets. Spread as fast and as thin as you can. When cold break in pieces

When I make this I just pour all the candy into 1 large cookie sheet and cover with a package of milk chocolate chips.
