Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup nuts, chopped
2 egg whites
1/4 tsp turmeric
3 cups sugar
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup white corn syrup
Dash salt

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, corn syrup and water in a saucepan and cook to soft ball stage. Soft ball state is when a drop of the syrup forms a soft ball in a cup of cold water. White the syrup is cooking, beat egg whites with electric mixer to form stiff peaks. When syrup is ready, pour it into egg whites in a think stream while beating constantly. Add vanilla, salt and nuts and beat until the whites stand in peaks. The stiffer the whites, the more firm the candy will be. Drop in balls on waxed paper. If you prefer in lieu of mixing chopped nuts in the candy, you can top each ball with half pecan.
