2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup mashed bananas
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, measure and re-sift with baking powder, soda and salt. Set aside. With fork...crush bananas to fine paste and add milk, cream together shortening and sugar, add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Blend in dry ingredients. Fold in the nuts.

Bake at 350 degrees for approx an hour. To make more than one loaf, double recipe.

Mom always loved to make banana nut bread for all her neighbors. Some of them still talk about it to this day. :)
