2 cups raw elbow macaroni
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
1/4 cup margarine
1/4 cup flour
2 cups milk
1 tsp salt
pepper
1 lb ground sausage
1/2 cup onion chopped fine

Directions:
Directions:
Cook macaroni and drain. If you use sausage, cook and drain it. In a 2-quart casserole alternate layers of cooked sausage and macaroni.

To prepare cheese sauce, melt and mix in flour. When thick, add milk, salt and pepper, cook until thick. Gradually add cheese until melted, stirring often. Pour over the macaroni and bake for 15 minutes at 325.

Recipe very confusing. Hope someone can figure out whether to add milk to cheese and thicken or thicken milk and then add.
