1/2 Cup of butter
1/2 Cup of brown sugar
1/2 Cup of granulated sugar
1 Egg
1 1/2 Cups flour
1/2 Teaspoon salt
1/2 Teaspoon baking soda (7 oz)
1 Package chocolate bits
1 Tablespoon vanilla
1/2 Cup chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cream butter and sugar together.
2. Add egg, water, vanilla and beat until fluffy.
3. Sift flour.
4. Measure and add salt and baking soda; sift again.
5. Add sifted dry ingredient and beat until smooth.
6. Add chocolate bits and nuts and blend into mixture.
7. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet spaced 2 to 3 inches apart.
8. Bake at 375 for 10 minutes or until a light brown.
