Ingredients:  
1/2 lb. white navy beans
1/8 lb. ham, chopped or cubed
Butter
1/2 gal. hot water
1 onion, chopped
Salt & pepper to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Run beans through water to rinse thoroughly. Add beans to hot water. Add ham, salt and pepper. Boil slowly approximately 3 hours in a covered pot. Braise onions in a little butter. When lightly browned, put in the bean soup.
