1 yeast cake
1/4 cup warm water
1 cup scalded milk
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 beaten eggs
2 tsps. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
4-4 1/2 cups plain sifted flour

Directions:
Directions:
Soften yeast in warm water. Combine scalded milk, butter and sugar in large mixing bowl. Cool to lukewarm. Add eggs, vanilla, salt and yeast to mixture. Add flour gradually, beating well after each addition. Cover. Let rise in warm place until light and double in size (about 1 hour). Beat down. Let rise again 3/4 hour. Beat down and put into two well greased bread pans. Let rise again 3/4 hour. Bake in preheated oven at 350º for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown on top. (I have put into six individual bread pans. Cooking time is shortened.)
