2 cups granulated sugar
5 large eggs
2 cups milk
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
1 loaf stale Italian bread (I put it on a baking sheet spread out over night)
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, softened
1 cup chopped pecans

SAUCE:

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup melted butter
1 egg, beaten
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 brandy

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
grease a 9" X 13" X 2" span
In large bowl, mix sugar, eggs, milk, and vanilla, and pour over stale bread cubes. Let stand 10-15 minutes till soaked in
In another bowl mix brown sugar, butter, and pecans
Pour bread mix into greased pan, and sprinkle brown sugar mix over the top
bake for 45 minutes

NOTE: to make chocolate putting I added 1 cup cocoa( I used Dark)
You can add chocolate chips or 6 cups frozen and chopped snickers bars if you desire

Sauce:

Mix sugar, butter, egg, and vanilla in a sauce pan and heat over medium heat until sugar is completely melted. Stir in Brandy and heat 4 to 5 minutes to cook out alcohol..Pour over bfread pudding..

I always serve with vanilla ice cream
