4 egg yolks
1 c. sugar
3 T. flour
3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Vanilla wafers
Bananas

MERINGUE:
4 egg whites
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 c. sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Beat egg yolks; add sugar, flour, and milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until thickened to desired consistency. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
Line bottom and sides of baking dish with vanilla wafers; place sliced bananas on top of wafers. Pour in half of custard. Repeat layers of wafers, bananas, and custard. Top with meringue.

For meringue, beat egg whites with cream of tartar until frothy. Gradually beat in sugar, a little at a time. Continue beating until stiff and glossy. Pile meringue onto pudding. Bake in 400º oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until lightly browned.
