12 pods dried chilies
2 c. water
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp.pure lard or corn oil
1 tbsp. flour
Tomato juice or water

Directions:
Directions:
Wash chili pods, removing stems and seeds. Bring chili pods and water (or sauce) to boil. Reduce heat and allow to steam 10 minutes or longer. Pour into blender/food processor and liquefy. Strain sauce through a colander or sieve. Add salt to taste. Heat lard/oil (quite hot) in frying pan, then add flour and whisk quickly. Pour in Chili Sauce and stir until thickened. Add tomato juice or more water, as needed.
