2 c broccoli cut in small pieces
2 c cauliflower cut in small pieces
1 medium onion diced
butter to sauté
pepper to taste
salt to taste
thick white sauce
3 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 c milk

Directions:
Directions:
Put broccoli and cauliflower into a 2 quart saucepan. Add enough water to cover the vegetables. Salt to taste. Cover the saucepan and cook until tender. Saute onion until tender and golden brown. Set aside. In a small saucepan melt butter, add flour and salt. Stir with wooden spoon until well mixed. Add milk all at once. Cool quickly, stirring until thick. Keep warm. When vegetables are cooked, bring to a slow boil and add white sauce. Mix in onions. Then slowly add cheese and stir until melted. Cover and simmer at least 15 min, longer for a thicker soup with softer vegetables.
