2 cans long asparagus spears
2 Tbsp. butter
3 Tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp, salt
1/8 tsp. white pepper
1 1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 c. shredded American cheese
1/2 c. bread crumbs
4 hard cooked eggs, sliced
1 jar (2 oz.) sliced pimentos

For the sauce, melt butter in a sauce pan. Stir in the flour, salt & pepper, Cook over med. heat 1 minute, stirring constantly. Whisk in the milk, gradually to make a smooth white sauce & is thickened. Stir in cheese, blend well. Spray an 8x10 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray. Sprinkle about 1/3 of the bread crumbs in the bottom of the dish. Layer asparagus, eggs, pimentos, & cheese sauce in the baking dish. Make 2 layers with it all. Sprinkle the remaining bread crumbs on top. Bake at 350 degrees for about 15-20 mins., until hot & bubbly.

We thought it was too much sauce. If I make it again, I would add more asparagus or cut the sauce recipe in half.
